You may have noticed that we have a new look. The reason: over our 6 years (YES, SIX WHOLE YEARS) we have published over 260 posts! This new format showcases our history. We hope this will lead readers to engage with our archives.

Did you know we published a 3 part series on eel eating? What about whisky in India? Or about cooking in the Soviet Union?

We encourage you to explore our archives! And as always, you can reach us on Twitter @historical_cook

We hope our readings like this change better than New Coke:

In 1985, in order to compete in the soft drink market Coca Cola reformulated its recipe with the branding “New Coke.” However, the American public's reaction to the change was negative, and "New Coke" was considered a major failure. The company reintroduced Coke's original formula within three months, rebranded "Coca-Cola Classic.”
