On February 14, 2018 I had the pleasure of co-hosting the event Alternative "Academic" Platforms: A Workshop for Grad Students with my colleague, historian of slavery, empire, and gender in the Indian Ocean, Tyler Yank (follow her on twitter @Tyler_The_Girl).

We discussed how many (mainly non-academic) opportunities are out there, how to look for them, and how to position yourself and your wide range of skills *for* them!

Whether or not you land an academic job, the following information will help you network, share your fascinating research with the public, and lead to valuable opportunities.

Here is a modified version of our presentation that we would like to share with you! Please share this resource widely!

Thank you to McGill's Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies for sponsoring the event.
