Today, November 15th, 2023, the Historical Cooking Project is now TEN YEARS OLD! It's wild that the website is still up and running. We have existed for 1/3rd of the length of time that the public has been able to create websites on the World Wide Web (since April 30, 1993). The website has changed a lot over the years, but I hope you use our 10th birthday to peruse our archives. In these 10 years, we have written over 313 posts! We've seen the rise and fall of various social media platforms. Despite blogs becoming a less popular genre of website, we have continued to post.

We've also changed a lot over the years. We once were run by an editorial collective but for the past 8 and 1/2 years, Alex Ketchum has served as the editor in chief.  The Historical Cooking Project started, in part, after Ketchum took a course during her MA and was inspired to cook from one of the class's historical texts. In the subsequent years she finished her PhD in History, was a non-tenure track Faculty Lecturer for 5 years, and now is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies of McGill University. It's been great to share parts of that academic and career journey on this website.

Thanks for spending the past 10 years with us. We hope to share this space with you for many years to come!
